What are Vowels?
All usual words in the English language contain at least one vowel.
In this video we show you how to introduce the 5 vowels, the names of the letters, and the sound each letter makes.
Before beginning this exercise your child should be confident with the letters of the alphabet.
Materials Needed:
To introduce the 5 vowels to your child you can download (for free) the vowel Letter Cards and Picture Cards. Print them, cut them out, and get started straight away.
Instructions:
Follow the steps in the video to introduce your child to the 5 vowels in the alphabet.
The vowels are taught when your child knows their alphabet sounds and is ready to identify the vowels for word building in preparation for reading. Introduce the 5 vowels letter names ‘A, E, I, O, U’, and the sounds each letter makes using the Picture Cards.
