Sewing and threading activities are an excellent activity for building hand and eye co-ordination, and concentration. It is also an important activity for building the pincer grasp. Your child cannot hold the thread or needle without pinching it between their index finger and thumb. This will help to prevent them developing an incorrect pencil grip.
Sewing cards can be bought or made from greetings cards, threading cotton spools, buttons and large beads, sewing fabric using an embroidery hoop.
