Teaching Parents how To Teach endorsed by Literacy BC
On Thursday June 25th Early Minds delivered 64 copies of our book "Teaching Parents How To Teach" to the offices of Literacy BC in downtown Vancouver.
Literacy BC received a $1000 donation from Canucks player of the month Ryan Kessler and we are delighted to announce that they chose to spend their donation on our book Teaching Parents How To Teach.
In addition to the books purchased by the Canucks donation, Early Minds Education decided to make a donation too, and doubled the number of books we delivered.
Diana Twiss, Deputy Executive Director of Literacy BC was there to receive the books and said, "We have reviewed your lovely and rich book and would be pleased to support the distribution of such a resource." The books will be distributed to projects supported by Literacy BC throughout the province.

It"s in the bag!
Surrey Connect have chosen "Teaching Parents How To Teach" to include in their Ready Set Learn parent bags for parents of children starting Kindergarten.
With over a dozen families in attendance Surrey Connect held its first Ready Set Learn Elementary workshop for parents of pre school children and gave out 15 Surrey Connect Book bags. Teaching Parents How To Teach was included in this great scheme for parents. We also put on a workshop for Surrey Connect to introduce the families to multi-sensorial teaching and how they can help their children, and support their individual styles of learning. The workshop was a resounding success and we look forward to doing more with the Surrey school board in the future.
Workshop at Huckleberry Bush Books
On October 7th at 7 pm, we will be holding a workshop to introduce parents to Multi-Sensorial teaching. Register now at Huckleberry Bush Books on Main Street, Vancouver.
In the workshop we will give you an explanation of multi-sensorial learning and we will look at the importance of supporting our children"s learning in the early years.
We will discuss fine & gross motor skills, developing hand & eye co-ordination and concentration.
We will also look at an introduction to language arts from word building through to reading and understanding grammar, and at introducing concrete math from early numeracy through to an understanding of multiplication, division, and estimating.
You will leave the workshop with our "5 things you can start doing straight away" handout, so you can do something to help your child right away.
Recommended by Today"s Parent
In the April issue of Today"s Parent Magazine, our book Teaching Parents How To Teach was recommended to its readers. Today"s Parent, Canada"s most trusted parenting magazine, reviewed our book Teaching Parents How To Teach and recommended it to their readers. We were delighted to have them include a small extract from the book and have suggested a regular article dedicated to guiding parents to help prepare and support their children be included in their publication. We have offered to provide them help with this and look forward to working together.
West Coast Families magazine review
"Teaching Parents How To Teach" was included in the summer issue of WestCoast Families magazine and recommended to its readers. We were delighted to hear that one of our favorite local magazines wanted to recommend our book to its readers. We were also asked if we would like to send a copy of the book and the Number and Alphabet Card sets to offer to their readers as a prize. We were more than happy to do this and have had a great response to the article from our community and from visitors to our web site.

Paul Abra from Island Parent Radio talks with our own Jill Whitehouse about teaching in a multi-sensorial way and our book Teaching Parents How To Teach. Jill talks with Paul Abra on his show about the importance of parent support in the early years, and how preparing your child for those all important first years of school can have a dramatic effect on the intellectual and emotional development. Jill talks with Paul for an hour on his show and encourages parents and their families to get involved with how the children in their lives learn. You can listen to a recording of the show here.
